I expect that if you are near my age and lived in the Vietnam era and were fortunate enough to have hypertension, college and a good draft number to keep you safe during those tragic years while you protested our government's decision to sacrifice 50,000 of our contemporaries, you are still a bit conflicted when you see the American Flag being flown on houses, golf carts, cars, etc.
I am, and yet I count as my number one blessing being born in the USA. I know we have such an easier life due to being born here. I know we have more opportunity, a better education, more freedom, more safety than anywhere in the world.
As a symbol of our country, I am proud to fly the Flag. As a symbol of our willingness to sacrifice our young while we interfere in the internal conflicts in other countries, I am sad and ashamed.
